Dear Hastings Racing Club Member,

Great to see so many Club I members at Hastings over the weekend and we hope you enjoyed the day, regardless of STAR LAUNCH’s seasonal debut.

Keith reports that STAR LAUNCH (pictured above) came out of the race with no ill effects whatsoever, walked out fine the next morning and is in fine fettle.

While it’s important not to be too down on the filly’s prospects this season, given that the daughter of Shrug remains inexperienced and was having her first run of the year, it’s also probably fair to acknowledge that her immediate future lays at the $4,000 claimer level and according to her trainer Keith Pedersen, that is where she will be aimed.

In other news, Keith reports SHOOTING JACKET in grand shape and he will begin light training in the not too distant future, with the marathon series again his target.

WARRIOR’S PROMISE has also been in good form since her amazing run in the Ross McLeod Stakes and, according to trainer Patty Leaney, she is now being pointed at a return to racing action early in June.

SQUARE DANCER continues to move in the right direction, according to Steve Henson and, like SHOOTING JACKET, will look to go long later in the spring.

Finally this week, we’d like to thank you for your continued forbearance during what has been a difficult time for us. Not unsurprisingly, there have been some administrative issues to resolve following’s Richard’s sudden passing and we know that a small number of you may not have been receiving email updates.

We’re now working with what we believe is a completely up-to-date list, but if any members you know are not receiving updates, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, either at this email address, or through any of the new social media platforms.

Many thanks to one and all and see you at the races!
