Foxtail Romps to Victory in Sunday’s Featured Green Lantern Purse

Hronis Racing’s Foxtail grabbed the lead early and then drew off in the stretch to post a 4¼-length victory in the featured $81,000 Green Lantern Purse for fillies and mares before a Sunday afternoon crowd of 11,038. (Click here for a video of the race.)

Trained by John Sadler and ridden by Joel Rosario, Foxtail covered the 1 1/16 miles on a fast main track in 1:46.92. It was the second victory of the afternoon for the owner-trainer-jockey combination, which teamed to win the fifth race with Encanta.

Foxtail is a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Mizzen Mast out of the E Dubai mare Surf Babe. Sunday’s check of $48,600 increased her earnings to $116,085 with a record of 12-3-2-2.

Favored in the field of six, Foxtail returned $4.80, $3.20 and $2.40. Support, ridden by Florent Geroux, held second by a length to return $4.20 and $3.20 with Saracosa finishing third under Tyler Gaffalione and paying $3.20 to show.

Racing resumes Wednesday with an eight-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. ET.
