Hastings News
Today is the last day of the PNE so the racing scene should return to normal by Friday nights racing card. Horsemen enter this morning for Friday, September 10 as the season begins its last 14 days of live racing at Hastings Racecourse and many of the major stakes races start as of next weekend with the CTHS Sales Stakes in two divisions. These two races are always held the weekend before the CTHS Sales and all horses bought can be nominated for these races for 2011.
Today’s card is exceptional with nine very competitive races on the card and now all we have to do is get the weather guy to cooperate as its drizzling as we write this newsletter at 5:30am in White Rock. We sure hope that doesn’t dampen the large crowd expected with 3 stakes races on todays card.
First post time today is at 1:40pm.

This is Clear to Canada final prep to the BC Derby on September 26 and he is 7-2 on the morning line. Railbird notes:
The BC Thoroughbred Owner & Breeders Association (BCTOBA) are holding an information meeting on Monday, September 6th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Diamond Club Boardroom on the second floor of the Clubhouse.
All owners and breeders are encouraged to attend to find out more information on joining BCTOBA.
Tomorrow is the WTBOA Summer Yearling and Mixed Sale at Emerald Downs. The sale gets underway at 1:00pm. There is very good consignment of yearlings in the catalog but in our view with the state of the U.S.A. economy and the low purse structure at Emerald Downs there could be some real bargains available. We will be there and report on the sale in Wednesday’s Newsletter.
North American Thoroughbred Horse Company Inc held an open house for potential new owners yesterday as they were offering 100 units in 5 yearling Thoroughbreds they intend on buying over the next few weeks. The turn out was standing room only and several people bought units of this new syndicate. They still have some units available, if your interested, you can get the details at www.nathc.ca or by calling the NATHC office at 604-542-6640 Monday-Friday.

Hastings News
Labor Day racing the past several years has been one of the top three days at Hastings Racecourse along with BC Cup Day and BC Derby Day. Tomorrow we have a very good day of racing with 9 races and 3 stakes on the card.
The sixth race on the card is the 45th Running of the PNE President’s Speed Handicap and it has drawn a field of seven sprinters going six furlongs.
Here is the field from the rail out and our thoughts on this race.
1: Almost Time drew the rail and the Swift Thoroughbred runner has two stakes wins under his belt already this season and is likely the leader had the moment for horse of the year in the older colts and gelding division. The Dino Condilenios trained BC Bred gelding finished 4th in the Longacres Mile in his last start beaten 6 lengths after getting off a bit tardy. Frank Fuentes is once again board and his is the morning line second favorite at 2-1. Almost Time has won 7 of 15 lifetime starts and is 12-15 lifetime in the money.
2: Forest Prince making his first start of the season for Glen Todd and Patrick Kinsella. His last start was back on January 21st at Golden Gate where he finished 3rd in an Opt/$50,000 claimer. Mario Gutierrez the barn’s number one rider is once again aboard this 5 yr old son of Mineshaft. The Troy Taylor trainee is 8-1 on the morning line.
3: Seminole Brave breaks from the 3 hole and this 6 yr old grey gelding owned by Fran Snow and the G & G Stable is ridden by Amadeo Perez. Seminole Brave is winless in 2010 and his last start was at Emerald Downs on August 22 where he finished 4th beaten 3 ¼ lengths. He is 6-1 on the morning line.
4: Distorted Glamour is also making his first start of the season for Lightning Thoroughbred Stable and trainer Nancy Betts. This speedy son of Distorted Glamour has a series of good works under his belt and is ridden today by Fernando Perez. Distorted Glamour will be part of a very hot pace up front and is 15-1 on the morning line.
5: Cardinal Zin owned by Leo and Norma Shaw breaks from the 5 hole with Chad Hoverson up for this 5 yr old gelding first start since finishing 4 beaten 2 ¾ lengths to Salt Flat Speed in the Spangled Jimmy Handicap in Edmonton on July 3rd. The Rob Gilker trained son of Whywhywhy has 2 wins in 6 starts this season and is 5-1 on the morning line.
6: Boundless Cat has drawn postposition #6 with Richard Hamel taking the call. Owned by Brian and Marg Leight and Foster Armstrong this 4 yr old gelding makes his first since July 1st where he won an Opt/$35,000 claimer defeating Bearrock N Roll and Three Wood. Steve Henson is the trainer and he is 10-1 on the morning line. Boundless Cat was scratched on BC Cup Day when he unseated the rider on post parade and ran off.
7: Burj Dubai is the morning line favorite at 9-5 over stablemate Almost Time and breaks from the outside post with Pedro Alvarado taking the call. Burj Dubai is also owned by Swift Thoroughbreds and he finished 11th in his last start that being the Longacres Mile on Aug 22 where trainer Dino Condilenios reports he flipped his palette and cut his air off. Condilenios is hoping an equipment change will fix that problem.
The seventh race on the card is the Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap for 3-year-old fillies going mile and one sixteenth. This division is very wide open this season as their hasn’t been a dominate 3 yr old filly emerge as yet with only this stake and BC Oaks left in the season for this category. This race has come up very wide open as well has a field of 9 fillies entered.
1: Otero from the Dave Forster barn has drawn the rail with Frank Fuentes in the irons; Fuentes has been aboard for all of Otero 7 lifetime starts where she is 3-2-1. Her only start where she ran off the board was in her last start in the Washington Oaks where she finished 5th beaten 11 ¼ lengths. Otero is owned by the Tres Hombres and is listed at 7-2 on the morning line.
2: Finality Philly breaks from the 3 hole with Mario Gutierrez aboard and she has a 4 race win streak on the line. Claimed by Glen Todd and Patrick Kinsella on July 25th this 3 yr old daughter of Finality came back to win a sprint defeating Vying Ty Grr and Jungle Lily. Finality Philly tries Stake Company today for the first time for trainer Liz Stolzenberg and is 9-2 on the morning line. Her best races have been going long.
3: Soul Custody the lone invader in the race from Emerald Downs races for the Perfect Soul Brothers LLC and trained by Emerald Downs conditioner Tim McCanna. Pedro Alvarado has signed on to ride this daughter of Perfect Soul. Soul Custody finished 3rd in the Washington Oaks in her last start and is also 9-2 on the morning line.
4: Motel Stroll from the Troy Taylor barn who just flew back from Delmar on Friday for this race. This 3 yr old daughter of Stroll finished 4th in her only start at Delmar beaten 2 ¼ lengths on the grass. Amadeo Perez takes the call for owners Glen Todd and Patrick Kinsella. Motel Stroll is 10-1 on the morning line.
5: Jungle Lily owned by Jim Veitch breaks from postposition number 5 with Richard Hamel up. Ed Sams trains this Ontario bred daughter of Kitten’s Joy. Jungle Lily finished 3rd to Finality Philly in her last start and is 20-1 on the morning line.
6: Victorious Vye has post 6 with Chad Hoverson aboard. Owned by the Sanlyn Stable and trained by Rob Gilker this filly finished 3rd in the CTHS Sales Stake in her last start beaten 2 ½ lengths by Wando Woman and Sweet N Sour. Victorious Vye is 8-1 on the morning line.
7: Dear Princess is the morning line favorite at 5-2 owned by the RJT Thoroughbreds and has drawn post 7. Fernando Perez accepts the mount for the Mel Snow trained daughter of Stephanotis is 3 for 5 this season winning the Supernaturel and BC Cup Dogwood on August 2nd. She is 5-2-1 in 11 lifetime starts.
8: Vying Ty Grr owned by 5sGs Stable and J & L Gallagher breaks from post 8 with apprentice Ryan Pacheco in the irons. Trained by Barb Heads Vying Ty Grr won the Sadie Diamond Futurity in 2009 but is winless so far in 2010. Her last start she set the pace to only finish second to Finality Philly sprinting and is 15-1 on the morning line. She is yet to prove she can run this far.
9: My Bailout breaks from the outside trying a distance for the first time. Claimed by Kay and Sue Ohashi for $45,000 back on July 11 she has had only one start since finishing 4th to Finality Philly back on August 8. Dave Wilson takes the call for trainer Pat Leaney and she is listed at 20-1 on the morning line.
The eighth race on the strong Labor Day card is the 22nd running of the Richmond Derby Trial, which is the final local prep to the rich BC Derby coming up later this month on Sept 26th. The Richmond Derby Trial has drawn a field of 10-3 yr olds going mile and one sixteenth for a purse of $50,000.00. The three old division has been very wide open this season with 3 different horses winning the 4- 3 year old stakes so far this season and two of them are not in this race. Dyna Stroll won the Jim Coleman and Chris Loseth Stakes but fell during the Canadian Derby and has opted to wait for the BC Derby. Prince Intent stablemate of Dyna Stroll won the CTHS Sales Stake, which was just 10 days ago so he is sitting this one out waiting for the BC Derby as well. That leaves only Cherokee Notion who is also a stablemate of both Dyna Stroll and Prince Intent all from the Troy Taylor barn as the only 3 yr old stake winner this season in the field.
1: Cherokee Notion the morning line favorite has drawn the rail for Glen Todd and Patrick Kinsella. Cherokee Notion easily won the BC Cup Stellar Jay on August 2nd but came down with a case of colic when entered in the Canadian Derby. Fernando Perez takes the call for trainer Troy Taylor.
2: Don’twaitforme breaks from post 2 with Amadeo Perez in the tack for owners Barry and Henrica Tyrer. The Rob VanOverschot trained BC Bred son of Vying Victor finished second in his last start to Cherokee Notion and is listed at 7-2 on the morning line.
3: Silly Fella owned by Felicella family and trained by Lenore Dubois breaks from 3 hole with Pedro Alvarado in the irons. Winner of last years Jack Diamond Futurity finished 2nd just eleven days ago to Prince Intent in the CTHS Sales Stake. Silly Fella is 5-1 on the morning line.
4: Rocket Roan owned by Ross McNaughton and trained by Terry Clyde breaks from post 4 with Dave Wilson up. Rocket Roan is winless in 2010 but has 2 second and 1 third in Allowance Company. Rocket Roan stretches out for the first time and is 20-1 on the morning line.
5: Texas Buccaneer who is the same connections as Don’twaitforme drew the 5 hole with Richard Hamel taking the call. Texas Buccaneer finished 6th beaten 6 ¾ lengths by Cherokee Notion in his last start is 10-1 on the morning line.
6: Ain who is the only maiden in the race but he finished second in his last start going 1 1/8 miles in the Emerald Derby back on August 15th. Owned by Swift Thoroughbreds and trained by Dino Condilenios has I Cardenas in the tack. Ain is listed at 9-2 on the morning line.
7: Crew Leader also from the Swift Thoroughbreds has Mario Gutierrez in the tack for trainer Dino Condilenios. Crew Leader has won one of 3 starts this season and stretches out for the first time. He has run even races in his sprints and it would appear he will like the added distance. Crew Leader is 10-1 on the morning line.
8: Victor’s Magic from the Quint McCabe barn has drawn the 8 hole with Frank Fuentes taking the call. This 3 yr old son of Vying Victor is winless this season but finished 4th in last start to Cherokee Notion in the BC Cup Stellar Jay. Owned by L. Kerr, Three of Diamonds and R&J Thoroughbreds, Victor’s Magic is 12-1 on the morning line.
9: Majesticality breaks from post nine with apprentice Ryan Pacheco in the irons for owners Russ and Lois Bennett. This son of Finality is trained by Barb Heads and he finished 5th in his last start beaten 11 ½ lengths by Prince Intent. Majesticality is 12-1 on the morning line.
10: Bobby Handy, owned by Gerald Frankel has drawn the 10th position with apprentice Giovanni Franco taking the call. Trained by Pete Gregory he won his last start rather easily by 5 lengths defeating a field of $25,000 claimers. Bobby Handy is listed at 20-1 on the morning line.

Derby News
North American Thoroughbred Horse Company Inc. is hosting a seminar today at the Derby Bar and Grill for anyone interested in owning a share of a yearling racehorse. NATHC is planning on buying 5 yearlings from 3 different sales and selling 100 units of five horses. Glen Todd, president of NATHC Inc states his company is attempting to bring new owners into the racing industry by offering this syndication of 5 yearlings.
Each unit owner will own part of the five horses. Todd says his company plans to retain 25 of 100 units offered. We have been overwhelmed by the response so far on our idea with interest coming from all parts of British Columbia.
If you are interested in joining this syndicate the briefing on how this will work will be at 1:00pm today or you can get more information on the NATHC website at www.nathc.ca or by calling the NATHC office at 542-6640.
For instructions on how to get to the Derby Bar and Grill and avoid the border line ups please call the Derby at 604-536-2878. Refreshments will be served.

The Casino had more people in it then I can remember or obviously one of the largest crowds in history of the Casino.
The featured fourth race on the card was for 3 year olds for a claiming price of $25,000 going 6 ½ furlongs. Encore Stable’s, Fox Creek stalked the early pacesetter Dutamis most of the journey under Dave Wilson, gained command turning for home and was a clear winner by a length and half at the wire running the distance in 1:17.1 over a rather dull track. The Craig MacPherson trained gelding is by the young California sire Ministers Wild Cat out of the Gulch mare Mike’s Way. Hampton Wick with leading rider Fernando Perez aboard who was never to far back got up to finish second over a tiring Dutamis who was the pacesetter and barely nosed out Contreve for the show money.
Racing Resumes on Labor Day, Monday with a nine race card, which includes 3 stakes races. There is no racing on Saturday and Sunday.

Railbird Notes
It was certainly nice to report yesterday that some help to our purse pools can be expected in the near future that will be used not only for 2010 but the future as well. This really bows well for the upcoming CTHS Sale, as the breeders in this Province really needed a boost for their sale. The number of mares and foals continue to decrease because of the financial down turn in our industry over the past several years and we truly hope this is the first stimulant to turn our breeding industry around. The sale catalog is actually very strong and there are a number of very good pages of pedigree to go over.
Adding to the purses will bring buyers and without buyers the breeders will continue to suffer. If we look down the road a few years we are going have a shortage of horses because of the number of breeders being reluctant to breed their mares. Hopefully this brings some stability for our breeders to look into the future and revitalize our breeding stock. The only real scary part that we have to try to turn around is the continual drop in the actual wagering dollars. This is not only a problem here in BC but all across North America. We must somehow get people back the pari mutuel windows to succeed.

The Derby Bar and Grill preview of the CTHS Sale last night was overbooked so we have some positive interest for the upcoming sale on September 14. The Derby has one more preview night and that’s next Thursday at 7:00pm and it’s filling fast as well.
Have a great night at Hastings this evening and hope to see you all over the long weekend at the track.

I am a member of the Horse Racing Management Committee and yesterday I met with Minister Rich Coleman, who committed to trying to find additional funds for horse racing in our province for this year and beyond that is to be totally used for Purse Pool enhancements. To say the least, I was overwhelmed with such great news and asked when he might be able to confirm. He replied that he expected to hear shortly. The Committee was formed by the Minister to revitalize horse racing and, in particular, protect the thousands of jobs in our industry. The Minister's commitment to us is great news for British Columbian Breeders with the CTHS Mixed Sale coming up on September 14th. Our provincial government is doing more than their part for horse racing and it is now up to us owners to step up to the plate and do our part to protect our industry.

Attendance last night at Hastings was not the largest crowd of season by any means and the mutuel handle reflected it as well. It was great night weather wise and track was in great shape after the monsoons and record rainfall on Tuesday.
Last night’s feature race went as the third race and Encore Stable’s, Beale Street went gate to wire under jockey Fernando Perez. The Craig MacPherson trained gelding broke on top and went head to head with Soldiers Return the first 5/8 of mile. He shook off that challenge and then Bearempire who broke a bit slowly again but was never to far back with Pedro Alvarado up took a run at Beale Street turning for home and held off Bearempire in dueling stretch drive to win by a half a length. Bearempire owned by Rob and Vicky Gilker held second, two lengths in front of Kwik who gained the show money. The winning time was 1:50.4 for the mile and one eighth distance.
Jockey Mario Gutierrez scored a triple on evening winning the second race on Simply Sam, came back in the fifth winning with Windy Day and completed the hat trick aboard Call Me Jewel in the sixth. Fernando Perez had two wins on the card winning with Beale Street in the featured third race and won the nightcap aboard Macondo.
Justin Jensen won his first ever race on a recognized racetrack last night winning the fifth race aboard Deirdre Bell’s Similkameen Storm. Jensen was greeted at the jock’s room with the traditional cold-water treatment by many of his fellow riders.

Can’t find any other racing out of town until Saturday, if you have a horse running out of town somewhere just drop us a note and we will include it in our out of town section as local fans like to now about our horses racing out of town and raises interest for sure.

Railbird notes:
There were just a handful of workers yesterday over a track rated as good. Bakari was the only horse to work a quarter mile and she went in 25.3. The better of only two horses that worked 3/8’s of mile was Broken Hearted and she went in .36.1. A total of 3 horses worked a half-mile and Soul Custody worked a very good 48.4 over a slow track and Battle of Hastings was the only horse to go 5/8’s of mile and he went in 1:05 flat.

The Jockey Club of Canada has named Stacie Roberts as its new executive director. Her position will become effective Sept. 7.
The former publisher of The Game Thoroughbred newspaper, Roberts has been involved in the Thoroughbred industry in Ontario with her family for more than 25 years.
“Stacie's knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry in Canada, coupled with her creative and communication skills, will help to promote the Canadian Thoroughbred industry both nationally and internationally through The Jockey Club of Canada initiatives,” said Jim Lawson, chief steward of The Jockey Club of Canada.
Along with her administrative duties for The Jockey Club of Canada, Roberts also will be responsible for the administrative duties of the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association.
Hawthorne Cuts Stakes Purses, Race Dates
The Illinois Racing Board approved a request from Hawthorne Race Course to make substantial cuts to its stakes schedule at a meeting Aug. 31.
The most significant change to Hawthorne’s schedule is the reduction of its race weeks to just four days with the elimination of live racing on Sundays. Racing will be conducted Wednesday through Saturdays from Oct. 1 through early January.
The board also approved a reduction of $500,000 in purses to the previously approved fall stakes schedule at Hawthorne.
The $100,000 Indian Maid Handicap was eliminated; the purse for the Hawthorne Gold Cup (gr. II) was reduced from $500,000 to $250,000; the purse for the Hawthorne Derby (gr. III) was reduced from $250,000 to $150,000; and the purse for the Robert F. Carey Memorial (gr. IIIT) was reduced from $150,000 to $100,000.
Purses for overnight races will also be about 10% lower than a year ago, according to Hawthorne assistant general manager Jim Miller. He added that average daily purses, with the exception of stakes, will start at about $125,000 a day. The change in purse levels did not require board approval.
Hawthorne and the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association had decided upon the significant changes due to a large purse overpayment that could swell to as much as $3.6 million this year. The cuts were put in place in attempts to balance the purse account by the end of 2010. Depending on betting handle, purse increases are possible, Miller said.
“What we’re trying to set up is to have a complete break-even in the purse account with our horsemen at the end of the meet, and we’re just looking at the economics of the industry and how it’s performed as a whole,” Miller explained. “We wanted to be proactive with the ability to improve things as the meet goes on. Our feeling is if we start out as low as feel we need to go, then we can only move up from there.
“We’re also sitting at a time where we could know any day about the casino impact fee that we’ve been waiting on for some time now. That’s why we put a stipulation in when we made the stakes changes and racing dates changes yesterday; it’s based on not having this impact fee money by the 15th of this month. That way, it gives us another two weeks just in case something happens to be able to maintain a five-day race week, and maintain our stakes.
“If that money becomes available, then you’re looking at a 30-40% increase in overnights immediately. If over the course of our meet this money became available, we would just run more races per day on the four-day card with the increased purses. We want to set ourselves up to succeed.”
The board also approved an amendment to its advance deposit wagering policy. The new rule states that the interstate commission fee on rates that can be charged to Illinois account wagering providers by out-of-state racetracks cannot exceed 9% (the cap was formerly 5%).
“A cap doesn’t mean that’s what you have to pay; it’s just a level you can go up to,” Miller explained. “There’s marquee meets around the country that are at a higher rate—Del Mar and Saratoga (for example) deserve a higher rate than 5%. When we were at a cap of 5%, we weren’t able to take those tracks, because we would be selling their signal short.
“Having a cap at 9% allows you to have good faith negotiations back and forth with all these tracks around the country, and it opens the ability for our patrons to be able to wager on these signals again.”
The board additionally enacted a restriction that forbids bundling different signals at a signal high rate as well as the imposition of what the board considers exceptionally high fees.
“We have a very active racing board and our chairman is very committed to this, because he wants fair business practice,” said Miller. “It makes sense for everybody involved. It helps us, protects the tracks, protects Illinois, and helps our handle and the purses.”

Racing resumes tonight at Hastings Racecourse with a 8 race card starting at 6:40pm for the first post time.
Thursday evening we have another 8 race card with the 7th race going as the feature which is a open $25,000 fillies and mares race going 1 1/16 miles for a purse of $19,200.00.
See Eye to Eye from the Frank Barroby barn is the morning line favorite at 5-2 which appears to be a wide open event with several stakes winners or stakes placed horses signed on.
This is how the field looks from rail out.
1: See Eye to Eye who races for the JF Stable and Gary Johnson breaks from rail with Amadeo Perez taking the call to ride. See Eye to Eye comes out of a third place finish to Classic Alley Cat on August 25 going 6 ½ furlongs. The added distance should work in her favour today/
2: Daymaker from the Swift Thoroughbreds Ltd has drawn the 2 hole for trainer Dino Condilenios and has Dave Wilson aboard. Daymaker finished a fast closing second in her last start sprinting to Restless Lady for $17,500.00. Daymaker is 5-1 on the morning line.
3: Rainbowsinthewood owned by Mr & Mrs Henry Forstbauer has drawn post position number 3 with Richard Hamel in the irons. The Rob VanOverschot trained mare has run two bang up races in her last two starts including a 2nd beaten a nose in the BC Cup Distaff to Wind Storm. She is listed at 7-2 on the morning line and we think is a overlay at 7-2.
4: Include the Grand breaks from the 4 hole with Pedro Alvarado aboard for owners Alfred Tsang and Dave Milburn should show her usual speed and takes a class drop from chasing much better horses. The Dave Milburn trainee is 9-2 on the morning line.
5: Random Highs breaks from the 5 hole with apprentice Ryan Pacheco signed to ride the 5 yr old mare for owners Dave and Sylvea Gregory. Random Highs stretches out for the first time this year for trainer Sylvea Gregory and is listed at 6-1 on the morning line. She comes out of the same race as See Eye to Eye where she finished fifth beaten 7 ¾ to Classic Alley Kat.
6: Against the Sky takes another class drop for owner Bob Leffler as the former older Filly and Mare of the Year drops in here for a claiming price of $23,000.00. Trained by Craig MacPherson and ridden by leading rider Fernando Perez is 8-1 on the morning line.
7: Dashing Daisy completes the field breaking from post position #7 with Mario Gutierrez in the irons. Dashing Daisy was claimed two starts back for Peter Tom and Glen Todd by trainer Troy Taylor. Dashing Daisy is listed at 6-1 on the morning line.
Entries for Monday’s 10 race card which includes 3 stakes races will be taken on Friday morning and it should be a good card for the holiday Monday which is always a good day at Hastings with a very large crowd anticipated.

Quick Fix was the best of 12 that worked a half mile and he went in a very good .47.3 over the sloppy surface. Bobby Handy prepping for the Richmond Derby Trial on Monday worked a very rapid 1:00.1 which was easily the best of 3 others who went 5/8 of mile and Forest Prince was the only horse to work ¾ of mile and he covered the distance in 1:15.4.

Wednesday night at Hastings starts the last quarter of the current race season with an eight race card starting at 6:40pm.
The third race on the card will go as the feature race of the evening and it has brought together a field of six solid $25,000 campaigners going one mile and one eighth. Kwik from the Toni Cloutier barn is listed as the morning line favorite at 2-1 with Isaias Cardenas in the tack. Kwik is owned by Roy and Dixie Jacobson finished 4th in his last start back on August 7 beaten 3 ¾ lengths by Three Wood.
Beale Street breaks from the rail for Encore Stable and trainer Craig MacPherson with Fernando Perez in the irons. Beale Street comes out of the same race as Kwik and Bear Empire on Aug 7 where he finished third beaten just 2 lengths after setting the early pace. Once again there isn’t much speed signed on here so we expect him to be on the lead early once again. Soldiers Return breaks from the number 2-post position with Richard Hamel aboard. Owned by Mike Anderson and Terry Clyde finished 3rd in his last start to Bearrock N Roll going 6 ½ furlongs. The Terry Clyde trained 7 year old comes out of the race on August 15 that was run in the fastest time of the year for six and one half furlongs in 1:15.1.
Good Bad N Ugly breaks from the 3 hole with Mario Gutierrez in the tack. Good Bad N Ugly was going long for the first time this season and finished 6th beaten 5 lengths to Three Wood but he could have well needed that start and good fair better today. He is owned by the Blue Willow Dairy and trained by Pat Jarvis. Meaux Power also hails from the Toni Cloutier barn and has apprentice Ryan Pacheco up. Owned by the Sim Racing Stables Ltd, Meaux Power finished 7 in his last start to Three Wood back on August 7th.
Bearempire owned by Rob and Vicky Gilker rounds out the field of six and breaks from the outside postposition number six. Trained by Rob Gilker and ridden by Pedro Alvarado this 5-year-old son of Empire Maker has dwelt his last two starts and was easily much the best of the field if he hadn’t dwelt. If he breaks he could easily be the winner.
Racing this week is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with the first post time all three days at 6:40 pm. Horsemen enter today for Friday’s card and once again on Friday for the Monday, Labor Day card, which should be a dandy with 3 stake races, scheduled.
